Ball Mill Liners
Ball Mill Liners
One of the major groups of TSF products is ball mill liner, the production of which goes back to the foundry’s start-up. The Company delivered over 2000 tons of liners with different designs to European and Asian countries, Up to 2009.
Following the export expansion programs, TSF has started a fruitful cooperation with the German Company, Christian Pfeiffer. The cooperation level then was upraised during the optimization project for a ball mill operating in Mobarakeh pelletizing section, as TSF successfully delivered all the mill internals.
Other activities in the same field include cooperating with European OEM companies such as FLSmidth in producing high quality liners.

Pelletizing equipment (1)
Holding 3 billion tons of proven reserves of iron ore, Iran counts as one of the most important iron ore producers in the world, ranked among 11 major iron ore-rich countries. However, the inefficiency of the unbalanced steel production chain necessitates the establishment of pelletizing plants in order to compensate the deficiencies, limit crude iron ore sales volume and help the country to stay competitive in the international market.
Based on this policy, Tabarestan Steel Group, started a series of activities targeted to acquire the capability of supplying numerous parts and equipment used in two major pelletizing processes, Traveling Grate (similar to Lurgi design) and Grate-Kiln (similar to Allis-Chalmers design) to the Iranian pelletizing plants. An overview of such activities has been presented in the below lines.

A) Traveling Grate Process
Tabarestan Steel Group started its activities through conducting reverse engineering on the complete unit of pallet car. The manufacturing drawings of constitutive components along with the assembly drawing were soon prepared as a result. Concurrently, a research program has been performed in order to fully characterize the metallurgical properties of pallet car unit. In 2011, Golgohar Complex made its first contract for pallet cars. The satisfactory operational condition of TSF products then motivated Mobarakeh Steel Company to place an order for 50 centre parts (the main casting piece of pallet car unit), followed by 50 sets of complete pallet car, all delivered by the end of 2014.

The pallet car unit used in this technology comprises more than 40 engineering components; each with a special material and production method.

The first advantage of TSF pallet cars are the fact that all the components are being produced in TSF group of companies, each concentrated on a separate job which serves to the production of integrated pallet car unit. The bearings as an exception are supplied from credible manufacturers to assure the best quality.

The production of more than 200,000 grate bars through precision casting method (in ceramic shell) for Golgohar and Mobarakeh Steel Company features the capacities of TSF group in this field.

B) Grate-Kiln Process
In contrast with travelling grate process, different tasks, including preheating, induration and cooling of pellets are done separately in grate-kiln technology. Therefore, the wider variety of parts and engineering components can be concluded at the first deduction.

The production of these parts is concentrated in Sari Precision Casting (SPC) due to the light weight and the precise dimensional tolerances. Grate plate, chain casting & bushing are produced through ceramic molding method in order to achieve high surface quality and the required casting dimensional tolerances.

At the present time, Ardakan Pelletizing Complex is the sole pelletizing plant in Iran, operating by grate-kiln process. The whole set of travelling grate produced by SPC has been installed in this plant during the last overhaul in October 2015. The experience made SPC the first successful supplier of these parts in Iran.

The casting parts of the travelling grate (which is used in the preheating stage) include grate plate, chain casting, bushing, clip, return roller, support roller, side plate & etc which are assembled in the form of multiple rows (the number of which depends on the production capacity) linked together to form a chain which directs green pellets towards the rotary kiln. It is worth mentioning that the machining of chain casting and bushing is performed by CNC machines due to the required close dimensional tolerances.
Other parts of annular cooler and rotary kiln have been also produced by SPC.

Chocks for Steel Rolling Mills
Tabarestan Steel Foundry has more than 30 years of experience in producing casting parts used in different industries. Sensitive parts made of high quality low alloy steel such as split & sleeves for oil pipelines and gas compressor nuzzles are our special products which require special technical expertise in melting process and casting technology. Such valuable experiences enabled us to produce chocks for rolling mills as the first and sole foundry in Iran who accomplished to produce these parts through casting method.

As these parts keep the rolls in place, they are regarded to be highly sensitive. We make sure to obtain the best quality by melt refining through oxygen blowing into the arc furnace, carefully adjusting the chemical analysis within the required standard and perform the melt degassing by argon blowing into the ladle. As a result, the melt impurities and sulfur and phosphorous contents decrease to a large extent which itself improves the mechanical properties.

Following the above-mentioned technical procedures, TSF has produced over 45 pieces of working chocks for Mobarakeh Steel Company, with metallurgical properties corresponding to the original OEM-supplied parts.

The parts require machining on the overall surface. TSF has the advantage of performing the job in its own machining plant with the name of Rueen Sath Tabarestan, which is located adjacent to the foundry. Therefore, we deliver ready to use, fully machined chocks.
